    A Valentine dance and coronation was held at Sanborn Central Middle School on Friday, Feb. 22.
The following eighth grade students were selected by the middle school student body to serve as princess and prince candidates for the Valentine coronation: Kayla Olson, Myah Selland, Maddie Vermeulen, Garrett Dean, Logun Feistner and Trevor Olson.
Myah Selland and Garrett Dean were crowned as the 2013 SCMS Princess and Prince. After the coronation, the middle school students enjoyed a night of dancing.

Luvern Weber

Dimock

Luvern “Butz” Weber, 83, Dimock, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls.
Funeral services were Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church, Mitchell. Burial was in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Dimock.
Luvern John Weber was born Jan 26, 1930 in Hutchinson County, the seventh child of Fred and Catherine (Bowar) Weber.
He grew up on the farm and attended Catholic school through the eighth grade at Dimock.
In 1944, he moved with his family to the Mathias Bowar farm in Davison County and farmed with his dad until 1953.
In 1053, Butz enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany until 1955. He then returned to Dimock and continued farming in Davison County.
On June 1, 1957, he married Virginia Baysinger at Woonsocket.
In 1965, Butz and Virginia moved to a farm in Davison County and raised five children while dairy farming.
From 1967 until 1975, Butz and his brother, Eugene, owned and operated a John Deere Implement dealership in Dimock.
In 1982, Butz retired from dairy farming and moved to Dimock, where he resided until is death.
Butz enjoyed watching Twins baseball, playing cards and pool, fishing, having coffee with friends and helping combine during harvest time.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul parish at Dimock and Holy Family parish at Mitchell.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and also served on the Dimock Cheese Factory Board.
Butz is survived by is wife, Virginia; three sons, Mark, (Carolee) Weber, Sioux Falls, Brad (Paula) Weber, Parkston, and Paul (Jodi) Weber, Woonsocket; one daughter, Jodi Boyer and special friend, Doug McManigal, Creighton, Neb., his son-in-law, Lon Krueger, Spearfish; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Weepie, Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Krueger, in 2005; his brothers, Arnold, Elmer and Eugene; two sisters, Alvina Kummer and Bernice Walton.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.

Sioux Falls

Myron “Mike” Wayne Olmsted, 72, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the Dougherty Hospice House.
Services will be held Friday in Oakwood Park Christian Church at Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday in the George Boom Funeral Home at Sioux Falls with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Myron Wayne Olmstead was born July 16, 1940, at Huron to Stanley Wayne and Minnie Irene (Michel) Olmsted. He graduated from Howard High School in 1958.
In 1961 he married Dureen Barta at Huron. He worked for Allied Van Lines  Moving Co., and later worked for the Huron Police Department. In 1969, he moved his family to Alaska. He was an Alaskan State Trooper and a bush pilot in the wilds of Alsaka. They moved back to Mitchell in 1994, where Dureen died in 1995.
In 1997 he met Marlene Wolfe and they moved to Brandon, where they lived for 15 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, square dancing, traveling, motorcycling and flying.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Wolfe; three daughters, Gay Lynne (John) Ames of Woonsocket, Brenda L. (Keith) Mead of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jo Ann (Richard) Twedt of Woonsocket; a stepdaughter, Crystal A. (Terry) Goehring of Sioux Falls; a stepson, Keith R. (Barbara) Wolfe of Sioux Falls; a sister, Marjorie (John) Engel of Ethan; 12 grandchildren and step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Donna Jean; a brother, Alan Dean; and infant son, Gerald Myron; and his wife.
