The Sanborn Central Woonsocket Marching Band traveled to Worthington, Minn., this past Saturday for the marching band competition in the King Turkey Day Festival Parade.
They competed against Minnesota school bands with similar marching styles, who march competitively throughout the summer.  The 58-member SCW Band brought home a third place trophy and some very close scores.
Band Director Brett Kroeger expects to have a strong showing with the next two events on the schedule, as they head to the Arlington East Central Marching Festival this Thursday, and to the Chester Lake Area Festival of Bands on Oct. 2.
The SCW Band will also be marching in the Woonsocket Homecoming Parade this Friday.

Rep. Kristi Noem recently met with Becky Pitz of Letcher while she was in Washington, D.C. with Growth Energy.
During her visit, Pitz helped present Noem with the 2015 “Fueling Growth” award for her leadership in pursuing energy independence through the production and use of ethanol.  This is the fourth year Noem has received this award.
They also discussed a number of issues, including the Renewable Fuel Standard and EPA regulations.
