The Woonsocket Elementary Parent Club (WEPC) had their first meeting in August, and they elected officers as follows: president – Carrie Howard, vice president – JoLynn Foos, secretary – Rachael Anderson, and treasurer – Kami Moody.
Room mothers were established for every classroom, including pre-K, so if any parents would like to help with something for a classroom, please contact the teacher and she can give your name to the room mother for that classroom.
The WEPC had a very successful year again last year, and were able to help purchase a new leveled reader program for grades kindergarten through third. This includes six copies of each title purchased and there were many titles included.
These can be used for group/circle reading or individual reading.  There are enough titles for levels 1-38, so all students can improve and work on their reading skills at their own pace.  There are also activities and/or teaching guides provided for each title. This year, the WEPC plans to raise more funds to supplement the curriculum for grades four through six, whether it be for reading or a different subject area the teachers choose.
Currently, the WEPC memebers are working on their homecoming float and ideas for American Education Week in November. If anyone has any ideas for these things or anything else you think we should consider, please contact an officer or come to a meeting.
We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 6 p.m. in the school commons area.  Our next meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 7.  Please join us and bring a friend.

Congrats to the Sanborn Central High School royalty selected by the underclassmen.
Candidates are: Trevor Olson, son of Troy and Amy Olson; Logun Feistner, son of Lincoln Feistner and Vickie Fox; Garrett Dean, son of Clayton and Lanette Dean; Maddie Vermeulen, daughter of Rod and Connie Vermeulen; Kayla Olson, daughter of Troy and Amy Olson; and Myah Selland, daughter of Brett and Kelly Selland.
Coronation will be Sept. 5 at 7 p.m. in the gym.
