The first service at Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church in Woonsocket took place last Sunday after a two and a half year journey of vision and planning.
The new church, which still has Lutheran and Methodist affiliations, was approved by the South Dakota ELCA Synod and the Methodist Conference in mid-October. A congregational vote of overwhelming approval on Sunday, Oct. 30, gave the new church a reason for much celebration on All-Saints Sunday.
The Sunday morning excitement was evident with a singing performance by the children of the church, the joining of 16 new members to the congregation, and remembrances of those saints who have passed and those who continue to live among us.
