The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on March 27 at the Woonsocket Community Center. Prior to the meeting, supper was served.
The meeting was called to order by Vice President Xavier Baysinger. The flag pledge was led by Sutton Senska and the 4-H pledge was led by Braxton Gentles. Roll call was led by Xavier with the question, “What is your favorite animal?” which was answered by 18 members.
The secretary’s report was read by Emily Ohlrogge and the treasurer’s report was given by Megan Linke.
Health & Safety junior officer Sutton Senska gave a short talk on the importance of wearing seatbelts.
Hope Baysinger and London Metzger baked homemade chocolate chip cookies for the club prior to the meeting. They gave a report on what they learned, including how the ingredients and the size of the cookie made a difference in their baking results. Then everyone had a chance to try a cookie.
Hope Baysinger and Emily Ohlrogge reported on the sewing/textile workshop. Hope made a pillow and Emily made a kimono. Acaiya Schultz and Sutton Senska told the group about the club ice skating fun day.
Old business: Fruit arrives on Saturday. The community service committee, including Bailey Feistner, Emily Ohlrogge, Xavier Baysinger and Hope Baysinger, reported on their plans for a petting zoo event at the nursing home, which is scheduled for Friday, April 14, at 3:30 p.m.
The club is set for barrel setting over Memorial Day weekend with most of the shifts filled. Members talked about the statewide 4-H Youth Council community service project, which is to encourage donating clothing items to local shelters or collection points in the area.
New business: The club decided to put on both a public speaking workshop and a special foods workshop for the county and also to invite surrounding counties. These events will be scheduled soon.
The club also talked about doing a parliamentary procedure workshop for other clubs. Members were reminded of the poultry day camp that is in Mitchell on April 22. Members reviewed items in the newsletter, including a push to try Fashion Revue, livestock affidavits are due June 1, and the opportunity for 4-H camps this summer.
Members signed Easter cards their elderly friends.
All 4-H members played a game of Simon Says to end the meeting.
