Nine members of Spirit of Faith Church Hope Circle met on April 6 at Prairie View Healthcare Community with Kim Hiemstra as hostess. Attending were JoAnn Schladweiler, Ruth Jensen, Evelyn Mitzel, Barb Coulthard, Jannet Larson, Vicki Linke, Vickie Hines, Sue Larson and Kim Hiemstra.
Following the meal, Kim read devotions on praying boldly. Vicki Linke, chairman, called the meeting to order. Sue Larson read the secretary’s report and gave the financial report. JoAnn Schladweiler, W/ELCA treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report. After discussion, it was decided to increase the offering for the Prairie Rivers Spring Gathering to be held at First Lutheran Church in Mitchell on April 22.
The “Quilting for Missions” group met on Thursday and worked on the quilts for the high school graduates who are members of Spirit of Faith. Two of the six were completed and a third one tied. They meet again on April 20 to finish them.
Five Confirmation students were confirmed on Palm Sunday, April 9. They received $10 each from the W/ELCA.
Maundy Thursday services will be held on April 13 at 7 p.m. with Holy Communion.
May 7 will be the day to honor the six high school seniors with their quilts during worship services.
Vacation Bible School will be held in July this year.
Sue Larson has received approval from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans with a $250 action team debit card for the “Prayer Pillow” project for military personnel.
Vicki Linke announced that a capital campaign committee has been selected to explore options to increase funds to build a new church.
Residents who attended the meeting and Bible study were Patti Knigge, Myrna Hjelm, Phyl Manke and Ruth Berg.
The Bible study was based on Galatians 5:1-6:18 and was titled “For Freedom Christ Has Set Us Free”.
The next meeting will be on May 11 at PVHC at 5:30 p.m. with Vicki Linke as hostess.
