Lisa Snedeker of Woonsocket, pictured front row, center, was among a group of inspiring women recognized for their leadership during the SHE Awards on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Nordby 4-H Building on the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron. Lisa was honored with the Community Service and Humanitarian Award.

On Friday, Oct. 26, the Woonsocket Fire Department was called to the Michael Feistner farm for a combine in flames. Scott Larson has been helping at Feistner’s with this year’s harvest, and while combining soybeans, his combine caught fire and put a halt to his help, at least for a short time.

The fire department got to the fire in time to put the fire out and keep it from spreading. According to Larson, the combine is a total loss due to the amount of damage.

No injuries and no other damaged property were reported.

There was a large crowd in attendance for the eventful worship service on Sunday, Sept. 28, at Artesian First Lutheran. Luke Bechen, son of Ryan and Kaci Bechen was baptized, and Casady Dean, daughter of Clayton and Lanette Dean, and Noah Wormstadt, son of Marty and Tambi Wormstadt were confirmed.  The annual Harvest Festival and potluck dinner followed the worship service.
