Hope Circle plans quilting event

Nine members of Hope Circle from Spirit of Faith Lutheran-Methodist Church met on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. at Prairie View Healthcare Community. Attending were JoAnn Schladweiler, Barb Coulthard, Julie Davis, Ruth Jensen, Evelyn Mitzel, Vicki Linke, Jannet Larson, Vickie Hines, and Sue Larson. A potluck meal was enjoyed prior to the meeting. Vickie Hines read devotions.

Vicki Linke, chairman, called the meeting to order. Sue Larson read the previous minutes from June and gave the treasurer’s report.

A new “puppet ministry” is in the beginning stages by the Junior Youth Group. Amy Miiller and Rich Linke have each requested a Thrivent Action Grant of $250 to use for building a stage and for puppets.

Our benefit to raise building funds for the new church was discussed. The Community Center will be decorated on Friday, Sept. 7, at 5 p.m. for the Antique Quilts Trunk Show and salad luncheon on Sept. 8. Silent Auction items, door prizes, and raffles on two quilts will also be held.

Vicki Linke announced that she delivered 34 boxes containing 226 school kits to Parker Transfer in Sioux Falls for delivery to Lutheran World Relief. A mass assembling day occured during the week of Vacation Bible Camp with the Confirmation class helping.

Julie Davis announced that the remaining funds from Vacation Bible Camp were given to the Sanborn County Food Pantry.

Sue Larson offered to pay for the advertising and a “Thank You” for the quilting event fundraiser.
