SCW falls to Wagner

By Jason Kolousek

This past Friday the Blackhawk football team was shut out 20-0 by Wagner in Wessington Springs. The Blackhawks drop to 1-4 on the season.

After trading punts, Wagner was able to put a drive together and scored with two minutes remaining in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead.

Early in the second quarter, the Blackhawks were driving and got inside the 20 yard line, but an interception stopped the drive. Wagner took advantage of the turnover and drove down field and scored on a 24-yard touchdown run to take a 12-0 lead into halftime.

There was no scoring in the third quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Blackhawks drove the ball down field and got to the five-yard-line, but turned it over on downs. Wagner took over and was able to move down field and added a final touchdown to make the score 20-0.

This coming Friday, the Blackhawks travel to Miller to take on Miller/Highmore-Harrold.

The third/fourth and fifth/sixth grade Blackhawk Youth Football teams traveled to Parkston on Sept. 21 and participated in the Parkston Youth Football Jamboree. This is their third Jamboree of the season, and they have one left at Chamberlain on Sept. 28. All of the boys have been working hard and both teams have been really improving. We have played a lot of area towns this fall and competed in and won quite a few games. We are very excited for the future of the Blackhawk Football teams.
