Artesian Town Board proceedings

April 12, 2022

The Town of Artesian Council met on April 12, 2022, in regular session at the Artesian Community Center at 7:30 p.m. Kurt Effling called the meeting to order with Council Members Candi Danek and Travis King present. Also present were Finance Officer Molly Ebersdorfer and Tom Fridley. Present for public participation were Andrew and Kaleigh Zoss.

Motion by Danek, seconded by King, to approve the agenda. Motion carried. 

Motion by Danek, seconded by King, to approve March Council Minutes, Financial Statement, and Payment of Vouchers; motion carried. 

South Dakota Department of Revenue, Fees, $150.00;

Xcel Energy, Utilities, $1,389.87; 

Danek, Candace, Payroll, $110.82;

Ebersdorfer, Molly, Payroll, $652.25; 

Effling, Kurt, Payroll, $147.76; 

Fridley, Tom, Payroll, $362.33;

King, Travis, Payroll, $147.76; 

Artesian Fire Department, Rent, $125.00; 

Benders Sewer & Drain, Sewer, $440.00; 

Butler Machinery Co, Sewer, $902.83;

Old Business: 

Discussion was held on streets, mowing, parks, lagoons. 

Fridley gave a report on the repairs done to the lift station.

Dump – only burnables are allowed

Nuisance Properties – Letters will go out on nuisance properties.  

New Business: 

Motion by Danek, seconded by King, to remove the $106 mowing charge from account 2022-1. Motion carried. 

Motion by King, seconded by Danek, to purchase four stop signs for the corners of Second Ave and Scollard St. Motion carried. 

King discussed the Disaster Mitigation Plan meeting he attended.  

Motion by Danek, seconded by King, to approve renewal of the malt beverage license for the Longbranch Bar. Motion carried.

Motion by Danek, seconded by King, to purchase and have installed two sewer shut off valves at an approximate cost of $1,500 each. 

Motion by Danek to adjourn, seconded by King. Motion carried.
