He huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down!

No houses have been blown down, but the wind has been blowing relentlessly for days, and it just keeps coming back with force each day. It has been windy every day for approximately two weeks straight, and when we say windy, we don’t mean breezy, we mean windy. With some gusts from 25 to even 50-plus miles per hour for several days in the past 10 days, some parts of Sanborn County just couldn’t hold on any longer, and damage was done. 

While a semi-truck was tipped over on SD Highway 37 for a while last Thursday, the roof started to peel off the Fibertech building that sits just to the east of the Local Lumber Yard property on the north side of SD Highway 34. The nice wooden fence that Anthony and Ericka Filter had built all around their yard did not weather well, as a large section of the fence on the west side of their back yard blew completely down flat to the ground. Many lawn ornaments and outdoor equipment from people’s yards all over the county were destroyed or blown into other areas.
