On Thursday, Oct. 23, the WWSSC Bucks hosted the Winner Warriors for their first post-season game of the 2025 playoffs. When the two teams met earlier in the season, the Bucks beat the Warriors 20-6, but in their second matchup of the year, the Bucks struggled to get the offense rolling, and they gave up the game to the Warriors, 12-20, to end the Bucks’ football season.
With the Bucks going undefeated for most of their season, it was a bit of a shock that their season ended in the first round of the playoffs, but Winner is a tough team, and they are always prepared for post-season play. Coach Schmitz gave his thoughts on the game and the end of the season. “Looking back on the season, I am very proud of this team. I know that the ending is not what we were hoping for, but being around these kids was another great year for me. They worked hard from start to finish. They gave everything that they had through the last game; we just came up a little short in the end. This football team should be very proud of what they accomplished this year.”
The WWSSC Bucks ended the year with an impressive 7-2 record, and they lose several key players to graduation, so next year, it will be fun to follow and interesting to see who steps up to fill some important roles. However, with the undying support of three school districts working together, the team is always on the winning side of things, regardless of who is playing on the field.
