On Monday, Dec. 20, the Woonsocket Elementary students, staff and teachers went on a “Polar Express Tour” to various businesses in town and gave out giant Christmas cards and sang Christmas carols.

The Sanborn County Democratic Party held their regular monthly meeting in the home of Chairman John Schmidt on Dec. 2. The meeting featured Dennis Olson of Huron, who is an author, speaker, cyclist, collector, and political activist.
The next meeting of the Sanborn County Democratic Party will be Thursday, Jan. 7, at 7 p.m. at the home of Chairman Schmidt, 204 S 3rd Ave., Woonsocket.

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Group 4-H Club chose a Christmas Caring Project to show appreciation to our healthcare staff at the Woonsocket Community Health Center and the Prairie View Healthcare Center. Club members put together “Healthcare Survival Kits” with 10 items that included Jolly Ranchers to make their day jolly and cheerful, a rubberband to remind them to be flexible, gum to help them get through sticky situations, a pen to list their blessings each day, and a puzzle piece because, without them, our healthcare would not be complete. In addition, to give them a burst of energy when they need it, each of the staff at the Community Health Center was given a gift card to the Muddy Cup and the staff at Prairie View found a variety of pop and Bubbl’r drinks in their breakroom to enjoy. Club members also sang and recorded Christmas carols to share with friends online. Committee members were Hope Baysinger, Lane Burkel, Trevor Johnson, Josie Arhart and Samuel Hansen.
