The Spirit of Faith church congregation surprised Pastor John Anderson with a celebration on Sunday for his upcoming 40th birthday and Pastor’s Appreciation Day on Sunday. He was presented a quilt made by the quilters with a WWE theme which is a favorite hobby of his. The congregation celebrated with him by having cake and ice cream.

On Monday, Oct. 4, the Catholic Daughters of America of St. Wilfrid Catholic Church in Woonsocket participated in a prayer vigil that was organized by the staff of the Mitchell Area Safehouse.
As October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Mitchell Area Safehouse wanted to have the communities it serves help create awareness of the needs of those who have to suffer with domestic abuse or violence, so they organized a prayer vigil in all those communities including White Lake, Plankinton, Corsica, Alexandria, Freeman, Parkston, Wessington Springs and Woonsocket.

On Wednesday, Sept. 22, members of the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) conducted a search in a field southwest of Forestburg not far from where Eugene Prins of Woonsocket was said to have gone missing in March of 2020. According to Tyler Neuharth, a supervisory special agent with the DCI, a farmer in the area had found a sweatshirt in a field where he was cutting cattails in a slough, and he reported it to local law enforcement. The sweatshirt was taken to the DCI lab, and they are still investigating whether it was Prins’ shirt or not.
