The Letcher Library is reopening for the summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. and every other Saturday.
On Tuesday nights (July 23 and Aug. 6) the Town and Kountry 4-H Club is hosting a reading night with activities, helping younger children check out books and read stories to them from 7-8 p.m. at the Letcher Commuinty Center. Everyone is welcome.
Pictured is the first reading night with Michael Hoffman reading “The Cat in the Hat” by Dr. Seuss and making a “Cat in the Hat” craft.

Last Monday, the Woonsocket-Wessington Springs 13-14 teener baseball team hosted Gregory for a double header.
In game one, Trey Weber took the mound for WWS.  He was able to hold Gregory to just two runs on five hits and he struck out three.
Meanwhile, the offense was able to score three runs and earn Trey his second victory of the season. Wyatt Feistner delivered the game winning hit in the fifth. Drew Olinger had the only other hit for the WWS teeners.
Game two saw the WWS teeners lose 20-0.  “As good as we played the first game, we played that bad the second.  We need to work on playing more consistently,” stated coach Nathan Hainy. Wyatt Feistner, Clayton Dornbush, Gunnar Brandenburg and Noah Hainy all took turns pitching. Feistner had the only hit for the WWS teeners.
The teeners then traveled to Chamberlain for a single seven-inning game on Friday night.  Clayton Dornbush got the start for the teeners. He pitched well, but the defense didn’t provide much support and led to a 18-5 loss for the boys. John Witte finished the game on the mound for the WWS team.
Noah Hainy, Wyatt Feistner and Drew Olinger each had two hits for the offense. Trey Weber and John Witte each added one hit as well.
The teeners will next be in action at the regional tournament. The tournament will be held in White Lake and the boys will play at 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

The Wessington Springs Owls traveled to Kimball Tuesday night to play a make-up league game with the Kimball-White Lake Bankers.
The Bankers would be the first to score when they scored one run in the second inning. The Owls would respond with one of their own in the top of the third. Jay Fischer led off with a hit and later scored on a double by Arin Boschee.
They would add two more to their total in the fifth. Walks by McLagan and Logan Kopfmann, followed by a long single by Armando Rodriguez plated the two runs.
In the sixth, the Owls scored three more to bring the score to 6-1. The Bankers would also score in the sixth to bring the score to 6-4. The Owls answered with two more safety runs in the eighth.  Then it was up to starter Mitch McLagan to hold the Bankers for six outs.  Unfortunately, the Owls weren’t able to do so.
The Bankers scored four runs in the ninth to tie the game at eight. Neither team was able to score until the 14th inning. Pinch hitter, Nathan Hainy, drew a lead-off walk, stole second and scored on a double by Rodriguez. But once again the Bankers would tie the game.  The Bankers won the game in the 15th on a run-off relief pitcher Adam Kaus.
Rodriguez led the Owls with three hits. McLagan pitched nine innings allowing eight runs on 11 hits, struck out nine and walked six. Kaus pitched six innings allowing two runs on five hits, struck out eight and walked two.
Two nights later, the Owls returned home to host the Miller-Wessington Outlaws for their final home game of the year.
Arin Boschee got the start for the Owls and would prove to be the difference maker.  Boschee was in one jam after another all night, but got a double play in the fourth to escape with only allowing one run. The Owls were able to score four in the first and two in the third to earn the 6-1 victory.
Boschee pitched eight innings giving up one run on three hits, walked three and struck out seven. He was relieved by Brian Kolousek in the ninth who gave up one hit but did not allow a run. Logan Kopfmann, Armando Rodriguez and Nathan Hainy all had two hits for the Owls. Adam Kaus, Mitch McLagan, Kolousek and Kody Kopfmann all had one hit each.
