The Town ‘N Kountry Kids 4-H Club Red Crew met on March 19 at Prairie View Care Center in Woonsocket.
Prior to the meeting, club members did activities with the residents including painting nails, making notecards with shaving cream and food coloring and bowling. A group also cleaned up the patio area.
The meeting was called to order by President Jonathan Linke. The flag pledge was led by Brooklyn Swenson and the 4-H pledge was led by Tyler Ogle. Tyler Ogle led roll call with 25 members answering the question, “What is your favorite part of spring?”
The secretary’s report was read by Aaron Linke and approved as presented. The treasurer’s report was given by Elliott Ohlrogge and approved.
For committee reports, Brooklyn Swenson gave an update on the 4-H Shooting Sports season.
Under old business, the club is still looking for dates to make a rock climbing trip. Fruit will be delivered on Saturday, March 22.
For new business, club members were informed that weigh-in for market sheep, swine and goats is scheduled for Wednesday, May 21 at 5:30 p.m.
Sanborn County 4-H received a mini-grant, which will be used to put on an “Electrical — You Build It” project day.
4-H Camp at Lake Poinsett is June 4-6. It was moved by Morgan, seconded by Trista, that the club pay $25 toward each club member’s registration fee who attends camp. Motion carried.
Health and Safety Officer Nathan Linke presented information on eating a healthy meal using “My Plate” as your guideline for choosing enough food from the five food groups.
The next meeting will be scheduled in April.

On March 19 at 8:40 p.m., Alivia M. Dorale, Bexar, Texas, hit a deer on Hwy. 37 in her Mitsubishi causing $1,500 in damages.
On March 22 at 10:45 p.m., Amanda Lodmel, Mitchell, hit a deer on Hwy. 37 in her Chevrolet causing $2,000 in damages.
On March 22 at 10:28 p.m., Ronald Ziegeldorf, Huron, hit a deer on Hwy. 37 in his Buick causing $2,500 in damages.
On March 27 at 11:22 a.m., Brittney Lacek of Forestburg slid on slush on Hwy. 37 into Andrew Pizur of Mitchell. Lacek’s Chevrolet had no damage while Pizur’s Chevrolet had $1,000 in damages.
