Tanna Kingsbury was named Daily Republic’s Athlete of the Week for her “awe-inspiring moment” at last weekend’s Class “B” Tournament in Huron.
Kingsbury was declared cancer free recently and has wasted no time getting back with her team. She has been a vital source of inspiration all year long for her teammates and the entire Sanborn County community. She was finally able to dress for the Region game.
Kingsbury went into the Thursday night game late in the fourth quarter, amidst the loudest cheers the Huron Arena has ever heard. “We want Tanna!” was chanted when it was evident she could be going into the game.
She was able to go in again in the final moments Friday night and was able to score two points. Good sportsmanship from the Hanson Beaverettes helped allow Tanna an open shot at the low post position, which she banked in to the roar of both sides of the crowd.
