FORESTBURG – A Huron man died in a two-vehicle crash on S.D. Highway 34 just east of Forestburg on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
Roland J. Glaser, 70, was westbound driving a 1991 Ford Escort. He collided with the back of a Ford farm tractor towing a hay-stack mover. Glaser was dead at the scene.
Tracy Gene Burkel, 39, of Woonsocket was driving the tractor. He was uninjured.
No further information is immediately available.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Sanborn, Jerauld and Beadle county sheriff’s offices, Sanborn County Ambulance and Sanborn County Coroner assisted.

The St. Charles Parish annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw contest will be held on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. in the Sanborn Central Gym. The contest is open to all boys and girls ages 10-14. Age group is determined by how old the student is on Jan. 1, 2013. Any athlete may participate as long as they have not shot at another parish competition. There will be a basketball skills clinic held at the Sanborn Central Gym on Sunday, Jan. 20 from 12:30-1:45 p.m. for SCW Blackhawks boys and girls in grades 4-8.
This free clinic will be taught by Troy and Amy Olson and will focus on basketball fundamentals. Parents are encouraged to attend and learn teaching techniques as well.
