Judgment in the amount of $179,528.52 having been entered in favor of plaintiff and against defendants, which Judgment was filed with the Clerk of Courts of Sanborn County, South Dakota, on October 18, 2012, for the foreclosure of a real estate mortgage,
Notice is hereby given pursuant to said Judgment that the real property described in the Mortgage dated January 30, 2009, which Shawn A. Mathis and Jessica L. Mathis, Mortgagors, executed and delivered to Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, Inc., Mortgagee:
Lots A of D, Putnam’s First addition in the Southeast Quarter (SE1/4) of Section Three (3) in Township One Hundred Five (105) North, Range Sixty-one (61) West of the 5th PM, in Sanborn County, South Dakota; aka 23867 404th Avenue, Letcher, South Dakota 57359.
and recorded in the office of the Register of Deeds of Sanborn County, South Dakota, on the second day of February 2009, in Book 122, Pages 777-783; said Mortgage assigned to CitiMortgage, Inc., on March 23, 2012, in Book 128, Page 891-893, in order to realize the amount of $173,992.00, as of January 30, 2009, plus interest accruing thereafter on said amount at the rate of 5.5000 percent per year, together with the costs and expenses of sale, will be sold subject to redemption as provided by law as one parcel of land at public auction, subject to the lien for unpaid real estate taxes and assessments of Sanborn County, South Dakota, and easements and restrictions of record, to the highest bidder for cash under the direction of the Sheriff of Sanborn County, South Dakota, at the front door of the Sanborn County Courthouse, in Woonsocket, South Dakota, on January 15, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. (CT).

Mable Marken

Wessington Springs

Mable Marken, 102, of Wessington Springs, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012 in the Aurora Brule Nursing Home at White Lake.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Wessington Springs. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery at Wessington Springs.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday in Basham Funeral Home at Wessington Springs, or Saturday afternoon prior to the service.
Mabel Ada Marken was born Sept. 3, 1910, to Eilert and Anna (Klink) Marken at her parent’s farm in Marlan Township, Jerauld County. She was baptized at Lane in October 1910 and confirmed into the Lutheran faith in October 1925.
She attended the Miller Country School (later named the Beers County School) and attended Wessington Springs High School. She enjoyed working with 4-H.
She enjoyed caring for other folks and children in South Dakota, California and Oregon. She helped in the garden market at Spearfish. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of LWML.
In February she retired and moved into Weskota Apartments and in 1998 she became a resident of the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home at White Lake.
She is survived by one niece and two nephews, including Connie (Charles) Swenson of Woonsocket; many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her one sister and four brothers.

LaVay M. Godber

Panama City, Fla.

    LaVay M. Godber, 81, Panama City, Fla., formerly of Letcher and Mitchell, died Tuesday, Dec.18, 2012 in Gulf Coast Medical Center, Panama City.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 in the Bittner Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be in Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery.
LaVay was born Dec. 8, 1931. on a farm near Ethan to Martin and Gladys (Swenson) Johnson. She grew up in Mitchell, graduating from Mitchell High School in 1949.
Following high school she moved to Ithaca, N.Y. where she was employed in insurance claims. She moved to Greeley, Colo. for years and then briefly lived in Davenport, Iowa. In 1963 she moved back to Mitchell.
She married Verlyn Godber in 1965. They lived on a farm west of Letcher for 20 years. Later she moved into Letcher and managed the Letcher Villas and sold Avon products for many years.
She moved to Meadowlawn Plaza in Mitchell in 2009 and in 2011 to Panama City.
She was a member of the Letcher Community Church and the DAV Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children, Debra (Alton) Finklea of Latta, S.C., Teresa (Robert) Woods of Orlando, Fla. and Joel (Linda) Godber of Panama City, Fla.; five grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Verlyn; brother, Donald Johnson; and a granddaughter, Leah Godber.
