MITCHELL — The spring semester dean’s list at Dakota Wesleyan University includes 188 students.
Among those on the list are Caitlin Bruckman,  of Letcher, Lacey VanLaecken of Letcher and Emily Olson of Woonsocket.
To qualify for the dean’s list, a student must have a semester grade point average of at least 3.5 on a four-point scale. They also have to complete at least 12 hours of academic work during the semester. The following students have been named to the dean’s list.

Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls has announced its spring 2013 president’s list. These students have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in the classroom and laboratory settings.
In order to become eligible for the president’s list, students must be full-time and have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the semester. These students should be commended for their efforts and performance.
The student achieving this recognition at Southeast Technical Institute from our community is Nicholas Feistner of Woonsocket, whose major is collision repair and refinish technology.

The Sanborn County Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Ebersdorfer presiding. Other members present were Blindauer, Ohlrogge, P. Larson and S. Larson. Also present was Auditor Larson. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Ohlrogge, to approve the minutes as presented. Motion carried.
OFFICE CLOSED
Lynn Brueske, Register of Deeds, requested to close her office on June 27 and 28 because of a family commitment. Her deputy is gone on emergency leave. She will advertise the closing in the Sanborn Weekly Journal.
HIGHWAY
Lee Goergen, Highway Superintendent/Weed Supervisor, reported on graveling roads, spraying weeds, and signing in the county.
DISTRICT III
Greg Henderson, District III, gave his yearly report to the board.  Henderson discussed some new programs available through District III.
VARIANCE
Motion by Ohlrogge, seconded by P. Larson, to convene as a Board of Adjustment.  Mark Meyer, Director of Equalization, and Mary Alley were also present.  Meyer presented a request for Mary Alley at Lots 23-24; Blk. 23 OP, Woonsocket, to build two feet from the lot line. Alley wants to build on a bedroom.  Hearing no objections, by recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Board, motion by S. Larson, seconded by P. Larson, to approve the variance with the understanding that she will remove the tree close to the property line. Motion carried. Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to reconvene as a Board of Commissioners. Motion carried.
JULY 5TH CLOSING
Motion by P. Larson, seconded by S. Larson, to close the courthouse on the 4th and 5th of July in observance of Independence Day.  Motion carried.
PARTIAL RELEASE OF LIEN
Releasing the lien on Lots 1-5, inclusive, Block 11, Original Plat of the Town of Artesian so the property can be sold was discussed.  Motion by S. Larson, seconded by Blindauer, to release the lien with the stipulation that the buyer will purchase the property for $400.00 with this amount being paid to the county.  The remainder of the lien will remain on the indigent person.  Motion carried.
