The Town ‘N Kountry Kids 4-H Club Red Crew met on Feb. 9 in Prairie View Care Center at Woonsocket.   Prior to the meeting, members spent time with the residents playing BINGO, launching paper rockets with a rocket launcher, having relay races and singing.
The meeting was called to order by President Jonathan Linke. The Flag Pledge was led by Nick Snedeker and the 4-H pledge was led by Dilyn Brooks. Corrie Snedeker led roll call with 16 members answering the question, “What is your favorite Valentine’s candy?” The secretary’s report was read by Megan and approved as presented.
Kaylee White reported on decorating the nursing home tree in a Valentine’s theme. The club talked about activities with the nursing home residents.
Under old business, the club discussed individual goals. Fruit sales packets were handed out. The money raised will be used for more 4-H grounds improvements.
Next, the club moved to new business. They discussed what they want to do for their next community service project.    Leader Paula Linke discussed some changes that are coming with the judging schools.
Following the meeting, Dilyn Brooks presented a demonstration on making “yarn monsters.”
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26 at 6 p.m. in the Community Center.

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids 4-H Club Blue Group met March 16 in the Letcher Community Center. Role topic of reciting a nursery rhyme was answered by 14 members and five guests.
The secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were given.  Jenna Skinner reported that members would be writing “Happy Easter” letters to adopted grandparents following the meeting.
Old Business: Fruit sales need to be delivered on March 23. Information on the time will be given later. The leader/parent conference will also be held in Aberdeen on March 23.  A committee of Jenna Skinner, Riley Zoss and Haley Degen will plan an electric safety event at Central Electric.
New Business: Names for possible Special Foods contestants were listed. Project enrollments need to be updated by May 31. You must be enrolled in a project in order to exhibit at Achievement Days.
Up-coming events were discussed. Members are to be thinking of a summer community service project.

Lunch was served by Meghan Chada and also hosted by April and Renee Farmer.

Food Plots in CRP: CRP Participants with contracts that call for food plots must prepare the soil and plant annually as promised. Food plots can be left in the same place or moved around the CRP from year to year, BUT the new area must be reported when you report acres and the old area must be seeded to the approved CRP cover.
CRP Sign-up: Plans are in place for a general CRP sign-up from May 20 to June 14. Land not currently enrolled and CRP that expires this fall can be offered. New contracts will start Oct 1.
Honey: MAL and LDP reauthorized for 2013.
Receipt for Service: Form AD-2088 “Receipt of Request for Benefit or Service Offered by USDA”.  IF you request one, USDA must provide you with a receipt for any approved, denied, or requested services.
LAA Boundary Change Recommendation: If you wish to comment on the recommendations announced last week you need to submit them to the Sanborn/Jerauld FSA County Office in Woonsocket by March 27.
