Congratulations to all who participated in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition held at Sanborn Central on Sunday, Jan. 26.

2014 KC FT    The following youth participated in the Eudes Council KC Free Throw contest held in Woonsocket on Sunday, Jan. 19.
Winners in their division are as follows, back row: Erica Howard, 13-year-old girls, Spens Schlicht, 13-year-old boys, Trey Weber, 14-year-old boys, and Tesa Jensen, 12-year-old girls; front row: Trinity Boschee, 10-year-old girls, Trista White, 9-year-old girls, Alissa Ball, 14-year-old girls, and Kaylee White, 11-year-old girls.
These participants will compete in the District Free Throw contest on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. in Woonsocket.

 

Lady Hawks win third consecutive 281 title

shelby    The Blackhawk girls have a 281 Championship trophy for each of the three years the co-op has been in existence.
SCW won its third consecutive title with a 51-42 win over Highmore-Harrold Thursday night in the Huron Arena.
Four of the five Hawks starters finished in double figures for a balanced attack that held a four quarter lead.
Shelby Selland finished the night with 14 points, 11 rebounds and the title of tournament Most Valuable Player.
Marissa Weber hit for 12 points, Morgan Selland 10 points and Rachel Selland, 10 points and nine rebounds. Myah Selland added five points and grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Lady Hawks racked up 18 assists, with My. Selland and R. Selland with five each. SCW stole the ball 10 times and forced 16 turnovers. Mo. Selland had four steals.
The Blackhawks shot 21-of-53 from the field. SCW outrebounded the Pirates, 37-28.
McKenzee Zilverberg led the Pirates with 12 points and seven rebounds while Sydney Cowan had eight points and five rebounds. TyAnn Hamlin had nine rebounds.
The Blackhawks improved to 9-1 with the win (now 10-1), while Highmore-Harrold fell to 10-3.
