The Artesian First Lutheran Church Women met at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 26 at the church. Devotions titled “Little Red Hen” and the lesson titled “Community Commissioned” were led by Judy Wormstadt. The business meeting followed.
The youth group WWTS (Walking with the Savior), sang for church services on Mother’s Day. They will now be on summer break and will resume meeting again when school starts.
The quilting group met in May and arranged blocks for 10 quilts.  No date is set at this time for the next quilting session.
The high school and eighth grade graduates were recognized at the church service on Sunday, May 8. High school graduate Dillon Moore was presented with a fleece blanket.  The eighth grade graduates were Aiden Wormstadt, Katie Schmit and Samantha Dean.
Interim Pastor Terry Knutson was with us since September 1, 2015, and his last Sunday was May 8.  We are grateful for his ministry with us.  Our new Pastor, Josh Knudsen, is scheduled to lead worship starting June 19.
The SD Synodical Women of the ELCA Annual Convention will be June 24 and 25 at First Lutheran in Mitchell. If anyone wishes to attend, please contact Judy Wormstadt for registration forms.
The meeting concluded with the Lord’s Prayer, singing the table blessing and lunch served by Judy Wormstadt.

NOTICE OF RESOLUTION AND SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION

SANBORN CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 55-5

A School District Election will be held on June 21, 2016, in all the voting precincts in School District No. 55-5, Forestburg, South Dakota. If the polls cannot be opened because of bad weather, the election may be postponed one week.
The election polls will be open from seven a.m. to seven p.m. Central Daylight Saving Time on the day of the election.

MoodyTracy 41 web    Mrs. Tracy Moody, science teacher at Sanborn Central High School, is the 2016 Outstanding Biology Teacher for South Dakota.
The award is sponsored by the National Association of Biology Teachers Association and comes with an invitation to attend a special awards luncheon at the NABT national conference and a year’s membership in NABT. Sanford Health sponsors an additional award for the winner in the amount of $1,000 to be used by the awardee to attend the national conference, which will be held Nov. 30 in Denver, Colo.
The award is based on the qualities of an excellent life sciences teacher: Teaching Style/Approach, Teaching Methodology and Teaching Environment, Reflection and Professional Involvement, and Family and Community Involvement. Moody teaches several life science courses such as biology, anatomy and physiology and genetics.
