On April 18, Quinones-Suarez of Sioux Falls struck a power pole guy wire with his 1990 Dodge Ram 1500, dealing $1,000 of damages to his vehicle.
On April 19,  Galen Hofer of Huron hit a slow deer with his 2008 GMC Acadia, leaving him with $5,000 worth of damages.
The next day, April 20, Kyle Wilson of Mitchell drove his 2002 Buick Lesabre into a deer that was slower yet, resulting in $6,000 worth of damages.
On April 23, Judy Martin of Wolsey ran into a nearsighted deer with her 2011 Mazda                  CX9, leaving her with $4,000 worth of damages to her vehicle.
May 9, Steven Rath of Mitchell rolled over his 2007 Pontiac G6GT, totaling it with $10,000 worth of damages.
On May 14, yet another deer was killed by Tyler VanWyhe of Huron, who was driving his 2008 Jeep Patriot, and thus received $3,300 worth of damages to his vehicle.
May 16,  a deer tried to get away from Angela Fridley of Letcher with her 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix, but she got it, and received $4,000 worth of damages as a result.
On May 26, Melanie Fridley-Pollard of Mt. Vernon, driving her 2007 Dodge Durango, paid the price of $1,000 of damages to her vehicle, to teach a deer not to sleep on the road.

Donna Larson obit pic 41Donna Larson Knippling, 64, died early Monday morning May 23, 2016 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services was held Thursday, May 26 at 2 p.m. at the Foothills Bible Fellowship Church with Rev. Sarah Olson Dean officiating.  Burial was in the Hope Cemetery, rural Wessington Springs. Visitation was Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the church with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Donna Rae Larson Knippling was born to Phyllis (Wheeler) and William James (Jay) Thompson on July 21, 1951 in Wessington Springs.  She was raised on a farm in Pleasant Township with her parents and brother, Ronald Jay Thompson. She attended rural Pleasant View Country School through the eighth grade and graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1969. She graduated from the Methodist School of Nursing in Mitchell on May 23, 1973.
Donna was united in marriage to Clint Jost on Sept. 18, 1971. She became a mother to Perry, Casey and Regina. Donna began her lifelong career and passion of nursing at Weskota Memorial Hospital, Wessington Springs, and dedicated 40 years to caring for the people of the community.
Donna married Craig Larson on Aug. 14, 1998 in the Black Hills. She and Craig enjoyed couples outings with friends, golfing and travel. Craig’s passing was very difficult for Donna.
Donna married Francis Knippling, Nov. 26, 2014. They lived on the farm 10 miles south of Wessington.
Donna was a member of the United Church of Christ, served as a board member there and volunteered in community events whenever needed. She enjoyed golfing at the Springs Country Club, church activities and attending the various sporting events of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Francis; three children and their families, Perry (Ann) Jost of Woonsocket, Casey (Sara) Jost of Hartford, and Regina (Bryce) Teveldal of Wessington Springs; seven grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Becky) Thompson of Whitesboro, Texas;  step-children, Brenda (David) Reis of Oacoma, Rocky (Donna) Knippling of Chamberlain, Karla (Doug) Hofhenke of Huron, Roxanne (Barry) Holm of Ashley, N.D., Barry (Sherri) Knippling of Chamberlain and Shannon (Scott) Dirk of Vale; 25 Knippling grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; aunts; uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Craig.

Keith Ross obit pic 41    Keith Ivan Ross, 79, formerly of Artesian, died May 26, 2016, at Firesteel Nursing Home in Mitchell.
Visitation was from 1-2 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the American Legion Hall in Artesian.
Keith Ivan Ross was born Sept. 24, 1936, to Claude H. and Vera (Seiders) Ross in Ethan. He attended grade school at the Farwell School south of Artesian, and graduated from Artesian High School in 1955.
He was drafted into the Army in 1956, served his basic training at Ft. Smith in Arkansas and went on to medical training at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. He served the rest of his military duty at Ft. Richardson, near Anchorage, Alaska.
Upon his return home, Keith resumed farming with his parents. He married Grace Williams on Oct. 12, 1959, and to this union, three children were born. They farmed north of Salem for several years, and in 1968, moved to a farm south of Artesian, where they farmed with his parents until 1973 when they purchased a farm north of Artesian. While living south of Artesian, he served on the Ravenna Township Board and filled the post of Surgeon General for the local VFW in Mitchell.
Keith is survived by two sons, Ron (Kazy) Ross of Earleville, Md., and Leo (Susan) Ross of Colton; one daughter, Valorie (Chad) Hilde of San Bernardino, Calif.; two brothers, Ellis LaVern (JoAnn) Ross of Watford City, N.D., and Glenn Ross of Denver, Colo.; one sister, Dorothy Learn of Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Leona Ross of Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyde (Buck) Ross; brother-in-law, James Learn; sister-in-law, Iva Ross; and four nephews, Michael Ross, Ward Ross, Dennis Ross and Chuck Ross.
