HURON – Sanborn County 4-H received a $2,000 Working Here Fund grant for new livestock pens recently.  The grant is provided through Farm Credit Services of America’s (FCSAmerica) Working Here Fund.
Sanborn County 4-H will be replacing all pens for sheep, goats and hogs at the 4-H grounds.  The new pens will ensure the safety of the animals as well as the youth and the public that use the 4-H grounds.
“We will purchase new livestock pens with safety features,” said Paula Linke, Sanborn County 4-H Leader.  “The side panels of each pen have vertical bars, and the gate latches are easy to use and safe for youth and livestock.”
“We value the opportunity to support local organizations dedicated to improving the rural communities in which we live and work,” said Michelle Pluta, regional vice president of retail operations at FCSAmerica’s Huron office.
Sanborn County 4-H is one of 53 organizations to receive a Working Here Fund grant in the fourth quarter of 2015. FCSAmerica awarded $93,190 during the latest grant cycle ending Dec. 31, 2015.
