John Knapp

Madison

Knapp obit 18    John Knapp, 67, of Madison, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at his residence in Madison under hospice care.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Madison with Rev. Barry Whipkey officiating.
John Gary Knapp was born April 27, 1949, at San Antonio, Texas, to Frank and Mary (Varn) Knapp. He grew up all over the world, as his father was in the Air Force. John graduated from Redlands High School in California in 1967 and entered the Air Force in 1969. He served four years during the Vietnam War.
John married Sharon Farris on June 10, 1984, at Woonsocket.
He was especially involved with his two kids, from coaching softball to being a Scout leader. John was known for his avid bike riding around town and across the great state of South Dakota. He worked for the last 20 years at PPD Industries.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Knapp of Madison; two children, Ben Knapp of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Theresa (Josh) Nolan of Beresford; one sister, Mary Kaiser of Agoura Hills, Calif; a niece and nephew; and a great niece and great nephew.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.

LeNora Busk

Madison

Busk obit 18LeNora Busk, 82, of Madison, died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, at Madison Regional Health System.
Funeral services will be Friday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Barry Whipkey officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, at Weiland Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Serviceman’s Cemetery in Mithcell.
LeNora Ellen Woods was born Aug. 31, 1934, in Storla, the daughter of Monroe and Selma (Malde) Woods. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1952, and then attended Dakota Wesleyan University, where she met her future husband.
LeNora was united in marriage to David Busk on June 12, 1955, at the Storla Lutheran Church.
She taught a total of 37 years in all elementary grades for country schools in the Mitchell, Lane and Faulkton school districts. She was active in her community and churches when she taught and in her retirement. LeNora enjoyed her family, music, singing, travel, community plays, musical events and a gospel trio.
LeNora is survived by her husband, David of Madison; two sons, Jim Busk of Sturgis, and David (Norma) Busk of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and James.

David Chada

Sutherland, Neb.

Davis Chada obit pic 18David M. Chada, 92, of Sutherland, Neb., and formerly of Brule, Neb., died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016, in the Sutherland Care Center.
Funeral services were Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Brule United Church of Christ, Congregational with Rev. Lisa Hadler officiating. Interment was in the Brule Cemetery with military honors by Keith County Veterans Organization. Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 14 at Drucker Funeral Home in Ogallala, Neb.
David Mathew Chada was born Sept. 22, 1924, at Brule, the son of Benjamin F. and Bella A. (Kosmacek) Chada. David received his education at Brule Public Schools.
He was united in marriage to Betty L. Holper on Feb. 5, 1949, at Paoli, Colo. The couple resided at Brule, where David was a self-employed cement mason and carpenter, and also worked for several other construction companies. He worked for Ed Turner Construction for 20 years.
David served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, First Congregational of Brule, and also served on the church board. He was a member of the American Legion, Brule Lions Club, Brule Fire and Ambulance Department and the Brule Cemetery Board.
His hobbies included fishing and stamp collecting.
David is survived by five sons, David (Nancy) Chada of Rapid City, John Chada of Park City, Kan., Ronald (Rhonda) Chada of North Platte, Neb., Bill Chada (Dodie Schlueter) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mark (Amanda) Chada of Letcher; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty in June of 2016; brothers, Adolph and Basel; sisters, Clara Croston, Elsie Chada, Florence Law and Georgia Hosier; and daughter-in-law, Vicky Chada.
