Gary Sandness of Woonsocket was one of 14 veterans to receive the Red Wilk Construction American Hero Award at the South Dakota State Fair in Huron.
Sandness, a Vietnam Army veteran, received his award during the Sept. 1 performance of the Red Wilk Construction Bull Bash at the grandstand.
He was awarded a Henry Rifle and an American Flag.
