Sen. Youngberg Week Six Report

The sixth week of the South Dakota Legislative Session ended on Thursday, Feb. 16. With President’s Day on Monday, I had the opportunity to head home for a long weekend.
On Saturday, I met with a few constituents at Gary’s Bakery in Madison, and we had great conversation about a few bills that are up and coming. This is always a great opportunity to hear from the people of District 8. If you are interested in joining me, I will be at the bakery at 10 a.m. again this Saturday and I would appreciate hearing from you.
The Legislature is still working hard to move bills forward in reaction to Initiated Measure 22. Those bills include HB 1073, regarding the limits of lobbyist gifts, SB 131, regarding the time between being a legislator and a lobbyist, and HB 1076/SB 53, regarding the creation of an Ethics Commission.
With 14 days left of the 2017 session, I can feel the urgency as we have much left to accomplish, but my focus will be on the quality of this time.
As always, feel free to reach out to me by email: jry067@yahoo.com or phone: 605-254-3051.
