tanner meyers This past weekend, March 29-30, Tanner Meyers, son of Kayleen and Andrew Meyers of Tea, and grandson of Thomas and Laurie Chipman, of Huron, Gene Meyers (Judeen Schley) of Woonsocket competed in the State AAU Youth Wrestling Tournament in Rapid City.
Tanner got first place taking the championship in the Midget 85 pound division. Also attending were Todd and Dawn Meyers of Huron, and Tom Meyers of Denver, Colo.

Shelby Selland named to Class B All-State first team

Younger sister Myah is second team All-Stater

shelby & myah Senior Shelby Selland was named to the first team Class B All-State team for her top-notch performance throughout the 2013-14 basketball season.
Her sister, freshman Myah Selland, has also been named to the second team.
Shelby and Myah have both helped lead their teams to a 70-8 record over the last three years, since the Sanborn Central/Woonsocket co-op began.
Shelby, who will attend Augustana College and play for the Lady Vikings this fall, averaged 18 points per game, 6.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists. She had a high game of 34 points and 11 rebounds versus Hanson in this year’s State “B” Tournament. She scored over 20 points in 12 games this year, as she led her team to a 24-2 season and a second place state finish.
Shelby has earned a great number of honors throughout her high school career including CBH All-Star, first team 281 and CBH conference teams, State “B” All-Tournament in 2013 and 2014 and recently played in the 3-Class Senior All-Star game. Shelby was named second team All-State her junior year and third her sophomore year.
She finished out her high school career with a whopping 1,588 points and 786 rebounds.
Myah, who is a 6-foot-1 freshman, already has three state tournaments under her belt, averaged 13.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and five assists per game this season.

A daytime robbery occurred Wednesday at the home of Trisha Gates and Ryan Larson in Woonsocket.
Gates left her home at the corner of 7th Avenue and 8th Street about 12:30 p.m. to pick up daughter Evie from daycare and run some errands around Woonsocket.
She returned about 2 p.m. to find things had been moved and tossed around and noticed around $500 in cash, along with debit cards and jewelry were missing.
Larson was away at work and his son, Jaylon, who also lives there, was at school at the time of the robbery.
The police have no leads at this time as to who might be responsible. Anyone with any information may call 796-4511.
