The Town and Kountry Kids 4-H Club held its annual Community Christmas Sunday evening, Dec. 11, at the Letcher Community Center. The event was attended by 40 members.
The evening started with Christmas caroling at various Letcher residences. It continued with hot cocoa and a short meeting.  New members were welcomed: Shay and Sury Bechen, Layton and Landree Zoss, and Addyson and Kooper Moody. Visitors were Mason and Morgan Hoffman.  Online enrollment needs to be completed by all members and Cloverbuds. Club t-shirts will be ordered for all new members and paid for by the club. Premium money was handed out from the last year’s exhibits and participation.
Soup, sandwich and desserts were provided by the members. Approximately 125 people enjoyed the meal. Bingo was enjoyed by everyone following the meal. Cereal was collected to donate to the Sanborn Food Pantry.
The next meeting will be bowling Jan. 1 in Mitchell.  The event will cost $7 per person. Members will meet at 4 p.m. with pizza at 6 p.m. They need to contact Steve Zoss or Janet Maeschen if they plan on attending.

Union Farmhands 4-H Club meets Nov. 27

The Union Farmhands 4-H Club met Nov. 27 at 2:30 p.m. at the 4-H building in Forestburg.
The meeting was called to order by Treasurer Katie Schmidt. The flag pledge was led by Amber Schelske and the 4-H Pledge was led by Austin Schmidt. Roll call was answered by Austin Schmidt, Katie Schmidt, Sawyer Senska, Aubrey Senska, Alex Schelske, Amber Schelske and Dana Schelske.
No secretary’s report was given. Treasurer’s report was given by Katie Schmidt. She updated that calendar sponsorship money was coming in.
Old Business: Calendars have been ordered and will be available for sale at the CIA Ham drawing.
The club will be getting new T-shirts and a design was voted on. Katie Schmidt will be ordering these.
Money has been donated to the Angel tree in the amount of $50.
New Business: Katie called for nominations for president. Austin Schmidt nominated himself, with a second from Sawyer Senska. Katie Schmidt nominated Catherine Bechen, with a second from Amber Schelske. A vote was taken with Catherine being elected the new president.
Vice President nominations: Katie Schmidt nominated herself, with a second from Amber Schelske. Sawyer Senska nominated Austin Schmidt, with a second from Alex Schelske. Vote was taken with Katie being the elected new vice president.
Secretary/Reporter nominations: Katie Schmidt nominated Sawyer Senska, with a second from Aubrey Senska. Sawyer nominated Austin Schmidt, with a second from Alex Schelske. Austin Schmidt nominated Amber Schelske, with a second from Sawyer Senska. A vote was taken, with Sawyer Senska being elected the new secretary/reporter.
Treasurer nominations: Katie Schmidt nominated Austin Schmidt, with a second from Amber Schelske.  Amber Schelske nominated Dana Schelske, with a second from Aubrey Senksa. Austin Schmidt nominated Amber Schelske, with a second from Alex Schelke. A vote was taken, with Amber Schelkse being elected the new treasurer.
Christmas caroling on Dec. 11 at Countryside Living and Brady Home in Mitchell was discussed. Aubrey Senska motioned to go, with a second by Katie Schmidt. Club members will meet at  the main entrance of Countryside at 2:35 p.m. to carol.
The Artesian Ham Drawing will be held on Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. A motion was made by Austin Schmidt, with a second from Sawyer Senska, to purchace cookies for the event. Katie and Brenda Schmidt will order and pick them up. The club will also be selling the community calendars that night. The members then signed sponsor thank you cards.
The meeting was adjourned, with a motion by Austin Schmidt and a second by Aubrey Senska.
Lunch was served by Sawyer and Aubrey Senska.
The next meeting will be at the CIA Ham Drawing.

4-H Tree 16 web    The Town ‘N Kountry Kids – Blue Group 4-H Club was chosen to put up a Christmas tree in the State Capitol in Pierre for the annual Christmas at the Capitol.
The club put up the same tree in the Sanborn County Courthouse last year and also at the State Fair and received a lot of positive feedback on the tree, so decided to apply for a display at the Capitol.
The tree and many others can be viewed at the Capitol building in Pierre daily through Dec. 27.
