Artesian

Artesian First Lutheran and community gals met Tuesday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m. at the church for Bible study and quilting.

The evening began with a short business meeting. Deanna Dean read the treasurer’s report and noted a profit of $513.50 from the Easter bake sale. Reports were given on the March 20 quilting gathering, the group attending the Abbott House luncheon and a movie later in the afternoon, the Easter Bake sale, and the WWTS mission projects. A thank you was read from the Abbott House for donations they received from the group. A special thank you to Jerolyn Dean for decorating the cross at the church.  It looks beautiful.

Deanna Dean, Jerolyn Dean and Judy Wormstadt attended the Medary Conference WELCA Spring Gathering at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Flandreau on Saturday, April 21.

The group agreed to have rolls, coffee and lemonade in honor of the graduates after church on May 6.

The Bible study titled “Putting It In God’s Hands” based on 1 Peter 5:7 led by Judy Wormstadt followed the business meeting. The Lord’s Prayer was prayed and the table blessing sung.

Lunch was served by Judy Wormstadt. The group made “Resurrection Rolls” for their devotions. During the quilting session, work was done on the Lutheran Outdoors quilt and two quilts were tied and the edges pinned for finishing.

Those attending were: Deanna Dean, Judi Larson, Jean Wormstadt, Wanda Effling, Jane Marten, Vickie Scott, Pam Moore and Judy Wormstadt.

Sanborn Central High School seniors Sarah Morgan and Levi Swearingen, and eighth grader Noah Wormstadt, will be honored Sunday, May 6, at Artesian First Lutheran Church during the 9:30 a.m. worship service. Lunch and fellowship will follow the service. All are welcome.

The Walking with the Savior children of Artesian First Lutheran Church collected money for God’s Global Barynard. With the money collected, the youth were able to order one pig, 10 chickens, two goats, one group of honey bees, one share of a cow, 1,000 water purification tablets, farm tools and training for one farmer, one month of food for an orphan, food for a refugee family for one week, three fruit tree seedlings, and five mosquito nets.

Also, with the earnings from their pizza sales, WWTS was able to donate $100 each to the Plus One Project, the Mitchell Area Safehouse and the Abbott House.
