Artesian First Lutheran ladies held their annual Easter Bake Sale on Saturday, March 31, in conjunction with the CIA Easter Egg Hunt at the Community Center in Artesian. There was a large crowd in attendance for both events. Some of the local folks enjoyed coffee and rolls while catching up on all the news. Deanna Dean obtained Thrivent Action monies for the bake sale expense and also for shipping costs of the Lutheran World Relief quilts.

For their circle gathering in March, several First Lutheran and community ladies met in Mitchell on Tuesday, March 27, and attended the Education and Appreciation Celebration luncheon sponsored by the Abbott House of Mitchell. The theme of the event was “Triumph over Trauma”, with guest speaker, Dee Dee Raap.  The group really enjoyed the event.  They also went to the movie “Paul, Apostle of Christ” later in the afternoon.

Those attending were: Judi Larson, Jane Marten, Terry Moore, Jan Peskey, Jean Wormstadt, Judy Olson, Deanna Dean, Melissa Wormstadt, Jerolyn Dean and Judy Wormstadt.

The First Lutheran Quilters met Tuesday, March 20, and started work on the Lutheran Outdoors quilt.

Jane Marten dyed 50 sheets for the First Lutheran Quilters. Jane was given the sheets by several motels in Mitchell.  She dyed the flat and fitted sheets and pillowcases in batches of beautiful colors. The quilters use the flat sheets for quilt backs, and the fitted sheets are cut into blocks to coordinate with the backs. The pillowcases are sewn together to make backs for the baby quilts.
