Artesian

Artesian First Lutheran and area women met at the church on Thursday, Aug. 24, for Bible study and quilting.
The evening began at 6:30 p.m. with a business meeting. Judy Wormstadt reported that she and Lowell had delivered the items to the “Plus One Project” in Huron and that the staff was very appreciative for the donations. Several mission quilts have been completed, and the quilters have until Oct. 1 to finish more quilts, if possible.
This is the time of year to assemble school kits and deliver them to the church by Sept. 15. The WWTS youth put together 18 school kits to add to those from other church members. Ladies are reminded that the Fall Retreat will be Tuesday, Sept. 19, in Badger from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is a fun and inspirational day with the theme “God is Our Refuge and Strength.” There will be a silent auction with proceeds going to the Crisis Center for infants at Malawi. Please let Judy know if you will be able to attend and if you can car pool.
At 7 p.m., Bible study, titled “What Do I Have to Offer” based on Psalm 4:5, was led by Jerolyn Dean. The group prayed the Lord’s Prayer and sang the Table Prayer, and Deanna Dean served lunch.
The quilting segment of the evening began with Judy Wormstadt demonstrating how to make girls’ dresses out of pillowcases. All the supplies needed were available, and several of the ladies completed dresses that evening. These dresses are sent to little girls in Africa. Others arranged blocks and put together kits to sew more quilt tops.
It is always a fun time working together. Those in attendance for all or part of the evening included: Terri Moore, Jane Marten, Wanda Effling, Jess Ludvik, Vickie Scott, Deanna Dean, Joyce Olson, Judy Wormstadt, Gwen Effling, Shirley Olson, Jean Wormstadt and Jerolyn Dean.
