Glennis Harsch-Maskovsky

San Diego, Calif.

Glennis Ann Harsch-Maskovsky, 84, died Oct. 3, 2019, at home in San Diego surrounded by her loved ones. 

Glennis Maskovsky was born April 19, 1935, to Ben and Marcela Glim, in Fargo, N.D. Glennis attended grade school in Minneapolis and later moved to Woonsocket, where she graduated from high school in 1953. She later graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. After college she moved to Denver, Colo., to work for Continental Airlines and retired after thirty years. She married Cliff Maskovsky in 1985, and they proceeded to travel the world for the next twenty years along with spending a considerable amount of time in Mazatlan and other parts of Mexico. 

She is survived by her husband, Cliff Maskovsky; daughter, Dianne Harsch-Kaplan; son-in-law, Sheldon Kaplan; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harsch; and daughter, Jo Ann Harsch-Simon.

Gary Kirsch

Omaha, Neb.

Gary Andrew Kirsch, 69, of Omaha, Neb., passed away Friday, Sept. 13, 2019, at his home.

Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Saint Gerald Catholic Church in Omaha, Neb. Reverend Michael B. Voithofer officiated. Internment was at the Omaha National Cemetery in Omaha, Neb.

Gary A. Kirsch was born July 31, 1950, in Mitchell. Gary received all of his sacraments at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church in Woonsocket. He graduated from Woonsocket High School and then joined the U.S. Navy. He served for four years. Gary returned home to Omaha, Neb., and worked for Wilson Packing. Later, he worked for Drake Williams Rail Car as a welder. He also worked as a custodian at the Omaha VA Hospital.

Gary enjoyed playing golf and collecting memorabilia.

He is survived by his six children; three stepchildren; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Kirsch; sisters, Lois Kirsch, Bonnie McDowell and Pat (Doug) Christopherson; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, two brothers-in-law, one nephew, and many aunts and uncles.

Janice Burnison, 60, of Huron, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2019, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. 

Her funeral service was held Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Alpena Community Center. Burial was in the Rest Haven Cemetery at Alpena.

Janice Marie Palmer was born at St. John’s Hospital in Huron on May 28, 1959, to Omer and Helen Palmer. Janice was baptized at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Wessington and was confirmed in both the Concordia Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wolsey.

Janice went to school in Wolsey. She later drove school bus for the Wolsey School and worked for the Town of Wolsey. In 1994, Janice completed her RN schooling in Huron. She was pinned, received her associate’s degree in nursing and obtained her license as a Registered Nurse. She worked in Wessington Springs and Woonsocket before becoming the Director of Nursing at the Golden Living Center in Groton for six years and then later at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron for two years.

Janice Marie Palmer married the love of her life, David Adrian Burnison, on Feb. 21, 2000, at a small family ceremony in Wessington Springs. 

Janice is survived by her husband, David “Bear” Burnison; one son, Darrell (Lois) Bittner; two grandchildren, Jordan and Halie; three brothers, Glenn (Teri) Palmer, Marvin (Karol) Palmer and Dennis (Carol) Palmer; four sisters-in-law, Heidi Palmer, Mary White, Patricia Teveldal and Linda (Mike) Kilcoin; and several other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Helen Palmer; three brothers, Russell Palmer, Darrell “Dutch” (Judy) Palmer and Robert Palmer; David’s parents, Betty and Ralph Burnison; and one brother-in-law, Bruce Teveldal.
