The Veterans Day banquet and program was held Sunday, Nov. 11 in the Artesian Community Center. A large crowd of 89 in all were served a meal at 12:30 p.m. The dinner was catered by Annie Podhradsky and Lisa Snedeker, both of Woonsocket.
Karen Lambert, commander of the Artesian American Legion Jackson-Hall Post 47, conducted the program. The speaker was Troy Magneson of Mitchell. He is a member of the Sons of Legion Post 18, Mitchell, and also a Shriner. Lara Brink sang the National Anthem. All veterans attending were honored.
If you meet a veteran on the street, stop and shake his or her hand and say thank you for their service to this great country. It is more important now than ever.
As people were leaving after the program many stopped to say thank you for a great dinner.

Veterans who were in attendance at the program and recognized were: (L-R) Gary Bruce, Dale Christian, Ron Uttecht, Gary Orth, Bill Zell, Jerome Anderson, Darwin Schmiedt, Arlan Selland, Henry Linke, Paula Linke, Joel Rassel, Gayland “Frenchy” Trudeau, Ken Stenzel (in wheelchair), Pat Cahill, Jerry Klaas and Lowell Funk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Woonsocket School staff and students put on a Veterans Day program Monday afternoon to honor all the local veterans and current service members.
All veterans in attendance were recognized, 17 in all, and each introduced themselves.
The students in grades five and six read some poems and demonstrated the folding of the American flag and what each fold stands for. The Woonsocket pep band was on hand to play and the kindergarten through fourth grade sang and signed “Proud to be an American.”
In honor of American Education Week the local group of the Town ‘n Kountry Kids also presented the teachers and staff with a gift.
The program was topped off with “Taps” played by Jonathan Linke and the retiring of the colors by the American Legion Post #29 Color Guard.

THE KINDERGARTEN through fourth grade students sang and signed with American Sign Language “Proud to be an American” to help honor the veterans.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Those attending the All-State Chorus from Woonsocket were Jacob Fouberg, Savannah Swenson, Morgan Larson and Brady Tiede.
