The Town ‘n Kountry Kids present their quilt for the Dig Pink event auction.

The Town ‘n Kountry Kids Blue Group met on Oct. 20 at the Letcher Community Center.
The meeting was called to order by president Riley Zoss. The pledges were led by April Farmer and Meghan Chada. Roll call topic was “The best Halloween costume is…?”
Committee reports were the grandparent letters and National 4-H week.
Old business included: Record books were due, Dig Pink Quilt, Writing thank you letters and the Halloween Party.

New business: American Education week; Fire Safety; Recognition event scheduled for Nov. 10; Holiday events; vendor fair on Dec. 7.
New officers were also elected as follows:  President  Jenna Skinner, Vice President Haley Degen, Secretary Meghan Chada, and Reporter April Farmer.  The next meeting will be Nov. 24 at the Letcher Community Center.
Brady Larson gave a demonstration in the recycling area on Halloween Fun with Milk Jugs. Cloverbuds, members and parents participated in horticulture judging. Several different kinds of squash were identified and discussed.

The Union Farmhands 4-H Club met Oct. 6 at the home of Rachelle and Dillon Moore with Caleb and Toby Kneen hosting.
The meeting was called to order by President Rachelle Moore.  The flag salute was led by Dillon Moore.  Jarid Bechen led the 4-H pledge.  Roll call was “Your Favorite Halloween Candy” and was answered by Catherine and Jarid Bechen, Caleb and Toby Kneen, Dillon and Rachelle Moore, Sarah Morgan, Ashley and Austin Schmit, Jessica and Katie Schmit, Aubrey and Sawyer Senska.  Jessica Schmit read the secretary’s report and Ashley Schmit gave the treasurer’s report.
Old business discussed was turning in the record books.
New business:  National 4-H week is Oct 6-12.  Ideas were discussed on how to promote 4-H with focusing on kids that are going to soon be old enough to enroll. The club decided to hand out suckers and for all to wear 4-H shirts to school. Jessica Schmit motioned, Dillon Moore seconded, to pay Kelbi Dean for the purchase of the suckers.
Upcoming dates for events were discussed: Nov. 10 is recognition night and Oct. 31 is the deadline to apply for the Washington, D.C. trip.
Sponsor sheets for the community calendars were addressed and sent out. Motion to pay postage was made by Sarah Morgan, Ashley Schmit seconded.
Election of officers was held with the following:  Jessica Schmit, President; Jarid Bechen, Vice President; Kelbi Dean, Secretary/Reporter; and Ashley Schmit, Treasurer.
Sarah Morgan motioned, Dillon Moore seconded, to adjourn the meeting. The next meeting will be held  Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Artesian Community Center to work on a project.

The SCW fifth/sixth grade girls took third place on Saturday at the CBH Tourney held in Plankinton. They defeated Mitchell Christian, lost to Ethan and won third place against Kimball.
