THE ENTIRE team wears special pink uniforms for the yearly event.

The annual “Dig Pink” volleyball fundraiser event was held Monday night in Forestburg at Sanborn Central/Woonsocket’s games versus Corsica/Stickney.
A silent auction, bake sale and barbecue meal were among the events.
Each volleyball player, including managers and statisticians played in honor of a cancer survivor or in memory of a loved one lost to the disease. The team members presented pink leis to each guest of honor.
The entire team played in honor of classmate and teammate Tanna Kingsbury, a freshman at Sanborn Central who is battling a rare bone cancer, Ewing Sarcoma.

Kingsbury warmed up with her team and received a standing ovation when she was put in the game as a starter, though she was unable to play.

Tanna dressed for the game and was able to warm up with the team. She headed back to Rochester, Minn. the next day for six weeks of radiation and more chemotherapy.
“Dig Pink” night helps raise funds for the You’ll Never Walk Alone foundation, which provides support to local breast cancer patients. It was founded in 2009 by breast cancer survivor Stacy Morgan.

Prairie View Care Center held their second annual pie social and silent auction last Wednesday.
Pie and ice cream was served all afternoon beginning at 2 p.m., while visitors browsed the numerous donated silent auction items. Polka music and dancing provided entertainment in the solarium at 4 p.m. and dinner was served beginning at 5p.m.
The event, now in its second year, is held as a fundraiser for building renovations and upgrades.
