David Tollefson

Woonsocket

    David Henry Tollefson, 62, died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 at Huron Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Basham Funeral Home in Woonsocket. A social gathering and lunch will be held at the Woonsocket Community Center following  services.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Allegra (Tollefson) Fink and her husband, Aaron; two grandsons; his father, Herbert (Frieda)Tollefson of Menno; a sister, Rosemary (Ron) VanLaecken of Watertown; two brothers, Lywellyn (Cindy) of  Watertown  and John (Michele) of Oshkosh, Wis.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceeded in death by his mother, Mary (Peta) Tollefson.

 

 

 

 

CAROL WIETING

Alpena

    Carol Ann Wieting,  71, of Alpena and Woonsocket, passed away on Dec. 28 at Hilltop Estates in Gotherburg, Neb.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 2 at St. Wilfrid Catholic Church, Woonsocket. Burial will be in Eventide Cemetery. Visitation was in Basham Funeral Home, Woonsocket, from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 1 and one hour prior to service at the church.
Carol was born on Dec. 16, 1942 to John and Pearl (La Fountain) Brien, in Helena, Mont. Her parents divorced, Pearl married Roland Shoop and the family moved to Spearfish, then Nevada Gulch. Around the age of 16, the family moved to Trojan, where Carol attended school.
At the age of 16, she married David Schopen on Oct. 31, 1959 and they moved to Texas. They moved back to South Dakota, to Deadwood/Central City and Spearfish in 1973. Carol and David divorced and she moved back to Deadwood, where she met Elroy Wieting.
They married on Feb. 15, 1975 and lived in Deadwood, Lead and on Strawberry Hill. When the Homestake Gold Mine closed they moved to Alpena and bought the Bar and Grill. After 31 years together, Elroy passed and Carol moved to Woonsocket and then to Nebraska to live with her sister.
Carol was a fun-loving person who enjoyed life and bingo, loved her family with all her heart and never gave up hope that things would always get better.
Carol is survived by her children, Teresa (Donnie) Jemming and Chad (Kerry) Wieting of Woonsocket, Steve Schopen of Sioux Falls, Kristine (Jason) Wieting of Shelly, Idaho, Teresa (Gary) Ehrisman of Pierre, John (Jodi) Schopen of Bennington, Neb., and Troy Schopen of Moorhead, N.D.; sisters, Nancy Parmenter, Gotherburg, Neb., Ivy (Clarence) Avis and Cindy (Scott) Kelly of Rushville, Neb.; brothers, Bob Shoop of Gordan, Neb., Phil Shoop of Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elroy; her parents, Roland, Pearl and John; two brothers, Joe and Larry; and many family and friends.
