The culmination of the area 4-Hers’ year was celebrated last weekend at the annual Sanborn County Achievement Days, held this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the 4-H grounds in Forestburg.
Exhibits were entered and judged Thursday afternoon and evening, then put on display for the events of the following days.
Friday kicked off with the dog and cat show, followed in the afternoon by the rabbit, pet and poultry shows. Thursday night was the popular event, Ag Olympics, along with a burger and ice cream meal.
The big day was Saturday, starting with a community breakfast, before the large animal shows, which lasted throughout the afternoon. The Sanborn County Health Fair, pie contest and community barbecue finished off the afternoon.
Achievement Days ends each year with the Fashion Revue program and the “Parade of Purples,” where 4-Hers can show the community their purple-ribbon-winning entries.
