Judith “Judy” Carol Marras, 72, of Howard, formerly of Artesian, passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Howard.
Mass of Christian Burial with Father Paul Josten as celebrant, was Wednesday, Oct. 19, at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Howard. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Artesian. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 18, from noon to 5 p.m. at Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard, with a Scripture and Rosary service at 7 p.m. at the church.
Judith Maras was born Sept. 30, 1944, at Huron to Johnny and Carrie (Young) Marras. She grew up in the Huron area and graduated from Huron High School. She then moved to Clearwater, Fla., where she began her working career as a seafood broker. Judy worked many years in Clearwater until she moved back to Artesian to be near her son. While in South Dakota, she worked for her son’s business in Forestburg.
Judy enjoyed gardening, collecting antiques and loved animals, especially her dogs. She loved being by the ocean, was proud of her Greek-Indian heritage and dearly loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, John Doren of Forestburg, Lisa (Rusty) Hendrix of Baldwin, Miss., Carrie Fowler of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Tyra (Vance) Street of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; her special friend, Lee Anderson of Artesian; and other relatives and friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and three sisters.
