Jerry Fradet of Letcher is the recipient of the Mitchell Department of Public Safety’s Pursuit of Excellence award. Fradet is a Communication Specialist with the Department.
The award is presented annually to an employee from the Mitchell Department of Public Safety who exhibits a professional commitment to the Department and to the citizens of the Mitchell area. Fradet displays an attitude and work ethic that matches the Department’s motto of, “We begin with Pride and end with Excellence.”
Fradet has been employed by the Mitchell Department of Public Safety for over 19 years. He also volunteers his time around the community including doing McGruff Crime Dog appearances, helping with the Trunk or Treat, assisting with the Toys for Tots and shop-with-a-cop Christmas gift programs and many other community events as Santa Claus.
Fradet is also a member of the Crime Prevention Unit, is a certified hostage negotiator, a member of the Honor Guard and he is a training specialist for new employees.
Prior to his employment at the Mitchell Department of Public Safety, he served 10 years in the United States Air Force as a security dispatcher.
Part of his award includes attending a national conference or receiving more training related to his field.
