Mrs. Tracy Moody, science teacher at Sanborn Central High School, is the 2016 Outstanding Biology Teacher for South Dakota.
The award is sponsored by the National Association of Biology Teachers Association and comes with an invitation to attend a special awards luncheon at the NABT national conference and a year’s membership in NABT. Sanford Health sponsors an additional award for the winner in the amount of $1,000 to be used by the awardee to attend the national conference, which will be held Nov. 30 in Denver, Colo.
The award is based on the qualities of an excellent life sciences teacher: Teaching Style/Approach, Teaching Methodology and Teaching Environment, Reflection and Professional Involvement, and Family and Community Involvement. Moody teaches several life science courses such as biology, anatomy and physiology and genetics.
