SUPerintendent of Sanborn Central School, Linda Whitney was honored with a slideshow and plaque Saturday afternoon during graduation ceremonies in Forestburg. Whitney, who has served the Artesian, Artesian/Letcher and Sanborn Central school districts for the past 32 years is retiring June 30. Justin Siemsen, former teacher at Sanborn Central, will replace Whitney. Siemsen has been “learning the ropes” at the school for the past year. Whitney began as a band and music teacher, served as counselor and eventually became superintendent. Before beginning her career in the district in 1984, she worked in Timber Lake, Pollock, New Underwood and Stanley County. She looks forward to spending more time with her grandchildren in retirement, but says she will miss the kids. Above, Whitney receives her plaque from board member Brenda Schmidt.
