Legion Auxiliary 15 web    The Woonsocket American Legion Auxiliary recently donated 27 dictionaries to the Woonsocket third graders and 17 copies of the Constitution of the United States of America to the Woonsocket fifth graders.
On Saturday, Nov. 19, members of the Auxiliary met at PVHC to make 12 Christmas stockings for the VA hospital in Sioux Falls. The stockings were filled with treats and will be delivered to the VA hospital. Pictured are Evelyn Hjelm, Barbara Maurice and Lynn Brueske. Not pictured: Dawn Rassel.

Steven and Liz Ruml of Sioux Falls are the parents of a son, Leighton Harvard, born at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Sanford Hospital. He weighed eight pounds, four ounces and was 21 and a half inches long.
Grandparents are Ron and Sandi Ruml of Letcher, Mary Ann Hetland of Mitchell and the late Harvard Hetland.

The following offices will become vacant due to the expiration of the present terms of office of the elective directors on December 31, 2016:
Director 4: Representing all of Spink and Sanborn Counties; the cities of Broadland, Wessington, Wolsey, Hitchcock, Virgil, Cavour, Iroquois, and Yale in Beadle County; and Nance, Bonilla, Altoona, Whiteside, Allen, Broadland, Wessington, Wolsey, Hartland, Sand Creek, Vernon, Dearborn, Bur Oak, Kellogg, Carlyle, Grant, Banner, Barrett, Belle Prairie, Cavour, Clifton, Fairfield, Foster, Iowa, Lake Byron, Liberty, Logan, Milford, Pearl Creek, Pleasant View, Richland, Theresa, Valley, and Clyde townships in Beadle County;
Director 8: Representing the city of Yankton east of West City Limits Road, west of Peninah Street, south of Highway 50 or 31st Street, and census blocks 4055 and 4056;
Nominating petitions may be obtained Monday through Friday from the following office between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.:
(a) James River Water Development District, 251 4th Street SW, Huron, SD 57350, Phone No. 352-0600.
The petition must be filed with the James River Water Development District office no later than 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2016. Petitions which are mailed by REGISTERED MAIL prior to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 will be considered timely filed. CERTIFIED MAIL received after the deadline will NOT be considered timely filed.
