Edith Olson, 92, Huron, formerly of Artesian, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Prairie View Healthcare Community in Woonsocket.
Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 at the First Lutheran Church in Artesian. Burial was in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Artesian. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.
Edith Faye Lager was born July 29, 1923, near Esmond to Carl G. and Bertha (Larson) Lager. As a young child she moved with her family to a farm near Fedora.  She attended school at Fedora, graduating in 1941. She attended Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish and began her teaching career in Sanborn County rural schools. Later, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Dakota Wesleyan University and taught elementary grades in Artesian and Huron, completing 41 years of teaching.
She married Otto Olson on Aug. 26, 1951, at First Lutheran Church in Artesian.  They lived on a farm near Artesian for 28 years, moving to Huron in 1979.
She belonged to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Joy Circle, Huron Area Retired Teachers, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Legion Auxiliary and Past Presidents.
After retirement, she and her husband, Otto, enjoyed traveling, visiting most of the 50 states.  She enjoyed visiting family and friends, reading, crossword puzzles and playing cards.
Edith is survivedby her twin sister, Edna Baade, and many special nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto; her parents; brothers, Charles and Elmer; sister, Helen Lookabill; brothers-in-law, Dale Lookabill and Rex Baade; nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to be made to the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at Artesian.

William Dean “Will Bill” Ruml, 70,  passed away March 31, 2016.
    Services were under the direction of Oscheim & Schmidt Funeral Home with the Memorial Riders Motorcycle Club leading the procession to the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with full military honors. A Celebration of Life and lunch was held at the Eagles Club with many family and friends.
Bill was born Sept. 30, 1946, to Matilda (Meier) and Richard Ruml in Mitchell. He grew up on the family farm near Letcher. He graduated from Letcher High School in 1965 and joined the US Navy. He was a jet mechanic aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1969.
Bill worked construction and met the love of his life, Patti Johnson, while working near Platte. They were married in 1974 and moved to Rapid City, where they started their family. Bill loved construction work and was well known and respected in the industry. He enjoyed teaching the younger guys and worked hard, long hours to meet a deadline. Bill was a great friend to all who knew him; he was very generous with his heart, time and money. He loved the outdoors, Western books, fishing, country music, his dogs and his family.
Bill is survived by his wife Patti; sons, Heath and Shane; daughter, Angel (Nick) Hix; seven grandchildren, all of Rapid City; his brothers, Ron (Sandi) Ruml of Letcher,  Donnie Ruml of Watertown,  Ken (Connie) Ruml of Howard;  sisters, Karen Severson of Aberdeen and Elaine Knutson of Letcher; many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Bubba.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Richard Ruml Jr.

    Glade B. Deckert, 75, of Mobridge, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 in Mobridge.
Funeral services were Monday, May 9 at Kesling Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment was Tuesday, May 10 at the Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Military honors were provided by American Legion Post #4 of Mobridge.
Glade was born June 12, 1940, in Salem to Carl and Johanna (Van Enter) Deckert, the youngest of eight children. He attended college for one year and then joined the Army in 1963. After serving his tour and being honorably discharged, he resumed his education and received a bachelor’s degree in finance. Glade worked as a vice president at First National Bank in Mitchell for 15 years.
He married Norma Olson and from this union had a daughter, Michelle, and a son, Scott. Glade and family moved to Mobridge when he joined State Farm Insurance, working as an agent for 33 years.
Glade married Nancy (Kougl) in 1994 and was a loving father to her three children, Brian, Melissa and Steven.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Michelle (Cory) Lang, Scott (Kjersti) Deckert, Brian (Calee) O’Leary, Melissa (Chad) Oberg, Steven (Amy) O’Leary; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Lillian (Ronald) Mitchell; sister-in-law, Marcia (Tim) O’Leary; brother-in-law, Albert (Deleen) Kougl; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Alfred and Patricia Kougl; sisters, Gladys Shoop, Shirley Biondi, Beverly Myers and Marian Kitchen; brothers, Orville and Lon Deckert;  brothers-in-law, Donald and John Kougl; and one nephew.
