Sanborn Central first grade teacher Ms. Jennifer Larson recently received funding from DonorsChoose.org for a project titled “Let’s Play” for Sanborn Central Elementary.
DonorsChoose.org is a Web site that supports projects by public school teachers across the United States. It is their mission to “make it easy for anyone to help a classroom.” DonorsChoose.org has affected 18,393,457 students across the United States with $426,324,488 in project funding.
Larson’s project, “Let’s Play,” requested small equipment for students at Sanborn Central Elementary to use both individually and in small groups at recess.
The project was fully funded in just one day this spring during the Donors Choose “Best School Day” campaign. During the “Best School Day” campaign, donors from across the country funded over $14 million dollars in projects in 47 states and Washington, D.C. in just one day at DonorsChoose.org.
Students and teachers from pre-school through fifth grade excitedly met to open the packages that had arrived for Larson’s project.
Students received kid-sized basketballs, kickballs, soccer balls and footballs as well as hula hoops and skip-its.  Students couldn’t wait to try out the new small equipment, all of which has been a big hit on the playground.
