Robert “Bob” Hinricher, 95, of Dell Rapids, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center.
His Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Oct. 17, at the St. Mary Catholic Church. Visitation was from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 16, with the Christian Wake Service beginning at 4 p.m. A Rosary followed in Kahler Funeral Home of Dell Rapids.
Robert was born Nov. 11, 1920, near Granville, Iowa, to Frank and Helen (Reistoffer) Hinricher. He served in the 10th Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater from 1941 to 1946. His Squadron received “Presidential Unit Citation” distinguished service on Jan. 29, 1944.
He was united in marriage to Charlotte Nemmers on Sept. 5, 1949.
Robert was a longtime member of the American Legion and St. Mary Catholic Church of Dell Rapids. He will be remembered for his life’s values: any work (no matter how hard) is good work, always be honest and keep your word.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his daughter, Kathy (Lon) Tonneson of Glyndon, Minn.; his sons, Terry of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Ron of Woonsocket, Earl (Melanie) of Forestburg, Joe (Edie) of Dell Rapids, Mike of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Tim (Lisa) of New Prague, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Weinacht of Dell Rapids; and his brothers, Elmer (Betty) of Flandreau, and Omer of Aurora, Colo.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Andrew and Norbert; six sisters-in-law; and six brothers-in-law.
