ABERDEEN – The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) recognized 38 Wheat Growers locations with GEAPS Safety Awards at its annual convention recently in Kansas City. The Woonsocket Wheat Growers was among the award winners.
GEAPS Safety Awards are given to facilities that did not have any lost time injuries or illnesses during 2016.
“Wheat Growers’ commitment to a positive safety culture is one of Wheat Growers’ core values,” said Wheat Growers CEO Dale Locken. “We receive these awards when everyone is doing their job safely, productively and efficiently every day.”
Last year, Wheat Growers was named one of America’s Safest Companies by “EHS Today” magazine and received eight Governor’s Safety Awards from the South Dakota Governor’s Safety Awards Program. The number of Wheat Growers facilities receiving GEAPS awards this year is a new record for Wheat Growers.
“These awards recognize the world-class safety performance that we strive for every day at every location throughout our trade territory,” said Wheat Growers Vice President of Safety, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs Bill Spreeman. “We’re very proud of our safety accomplishments, because we recognize that every day is a new day when it comes to safety performance.”
