February 2018

The Woonsocket Media Class is just finishing their latest project, which is posting all the senior class composites to the school website.

The media class, along with the help of Luci Grassel, worked together to display the pictures on the internet. All Woonsocket alumni can remember walking down the hallway at some point and looking at the graduating senior classes. Now these pictures are posted online for everyone to enjoy.

All years are available on the website from the Class of 1935 (first known senior class picture) to the most updated Class of 2017. The pictures can be found under the Class Composites tab on the Woonsocket School website at www.woonsocket.k12.sd.us

The Town ‘N Kountry Kids Red Crew 4-H Club met on Feb. 19 at the Community Center in Woonsocket. Prior to the meeting, the club had pizza for supper.

The meeting was called to order by President Nathan Linke at 5:30 p.m. The flag pledge was led by Blake Larson, and the 4-H Pledge was led by Dilyn Brooks. Roll call was led by Emily Ohlrogge with the question, “What is your favorite season?” which was answered by 24 members.

The secretary’s report was read by Spens Schlicht and approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given by Acaiya Schultz and approved as presented.

A report was given by Hope Baysinger about attending the YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) training workshop, and Emily gave a report on the Bead workshop. Dilyn gave a report on Shooting Sports, and Lane Burkel and Shiloh Senska gave a report on the bowling trip. Danielle Brooks gave a report on the Consumer Decision Making event.

For old business, members talked about the eight new tables purchased and donated to the Community Center with the Woonsocket American Legion. Fruit orders are due next week, and every family should sell at least five boxes. The club needs to finalize plans to go to Air Madness.

Under new business, the group discussed community service projects and the animal project changes. Leader Paula Linke talked about some possible photography changes. Barrel setting over Memorial Day weekend was also planned.

Following the meeting, the club completed a number of activities. They signed thank you cards for their sponsors. They completed a Horticulture ID activity and a CDM judging activity on toys.  They made a Life Saver project to give to people who they are thankful for, and made three tie blankets that will be donated to McCrossan Boys Ranch as part of the State 4-H Youth Council Statewide Community Service project.

The club received record book pages with newspaper clippings to date, and Emily Ohlrogge presented an illustrated talk on how to prepare and mount photos to exhibit. Then, the group played a game of Vegetable Basket Upset.

March activities will include a meeting, making more tie blankets, a trip to McCrossan Boys Ranch and Air Madness and Shooting Sports.
