October 2018

Each quarter, students in K-12 who obtain 40 or more AR points get rewarded with a special treat from Mr. Weber and Mrs. Lieber.  The treats are sponsored by the Woonsocket Friends of the Library Group.  The first quarter ended on Friday, Oct. 12, and the following students were able to enjoy some caramel, cinnamon, and orange rolls washed down by chocolate milk, regular milk, and orange juice.  It’s always exciting to see students who go beyond the basic requirements. Please congratulate the following students if you see them:

Second Grade – Denairic Lieber (41.8 points);

A new school year is often an exciting time full of changes. This year some of the changes in the Sanborn Central and Woonsocket schools included new teachers. Sanborn Central welcomed Nikki Dawson for middle school social studies and language arts, Kayla Vetter for Title I, and Megan Wilson for high school math. Woonsocket welcomed a new elementary teacher, Kacee Kopfmann, in the second grade. Janae West is a new addition for both schools as the shared band director. The Sanborn Weekly Journal reached out to each of the new teachers to learn a little bit more about them.
